Weight Loss Surgery

The surgical weight loss program of the Hickory Surgical Clinic provides a vital service for patients who suffer from morbid obesity.  We offer gastric bypass surgery, adjustable gastric band procedure (Lap-Band or Realize Band), and the sleeve gastrectomy, all with a minimally-invasive laparoscopic approach.

Three of our surgeons make up the bariatric team of physicians: Dr. Cook, Dr. Cox, and Dr. Hata. Jodi Lanier, our nurse practitioner, works as a vital part of the team in our office to help ensure consistent and timely care for our patients.

Our team works closely with nurses, dietitians, and other services at both Frye Regional Medical Center and Catawba Valley Medical Center, to provide a multi-disciplinary approach for the best outcomes. Our program is recognized as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the Surgical Review Commission (COE status at Frye; provisional COE status at Catawba).
